Having qualified as a pharmacist in 1998 , I then practiced in a number of pharmacies across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. Spending nearly ten years at Ilkeston Health Centre Pharmacy then moving to Ruddington village pharmacy for the last 7 years. Ruddington is a busy community pharmacy that dispenses large volumes of prescriptions on a daily basis. We collect prescriptions twice daily from both GP surgeries in Ruddington and from other local GP practices on request. Evans Pharmacy in Ruddington provides a number of additional services that I actively take part in to provide our patients with a complete a pharmacy service as possible. NMS, MUR, Pharmacy First, Seasonal Flu vaccinations, Emergency Contraception, Emergency Supply Scheme, Supervised Consumption are all enhanced services fully provided for at Ruddington ensuring I remain busy and involved at all times. Over the counter queries from travel advice for exotic locations to standard coughs and colds are also provided by myself and my team of well trained staff. We also provide advice on and supply of, veterinary medicines.
I have 2 young daughters (3 and 4 yrs old) that keep me on my toes at home and ensure that sleep remains a very precious commodity. For my sins I loyally support Sunderland AFC so all sympathy is greatly received following any one of their numerous defeats. I continue to live in hope that things can only get better where my football team are concerned ! I manage to play football most weeks and given favourable weather enjoy a cycling daily commute. I have set a goal of completing the Robin Hood Half Marathon this autumn, so give me a cheer if you see me.
I enjoy combing a regular Saturday morning as a pharmacist in Ruddington with my role as a tutor for the Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education. In my education role I lead education for qualified pharmacy professionals to learn new skills and to provide new services. I am interested in public health and supporting people to get the most from their medicines. I enjoy running a service to treat minor ear, nose and throat infections on Saturday mornings – I can often give the same treatments as the out of hours GPs and urgent care centre.
I live in the village with my husband and two children (who are growing up fast!) When I am not at work, I enjoy running a youth group at my church and relaxing at my allotment.
